Under the branches of the Tarouzakura cherry-blossom, Mendo hosts the party before chopping it down. Rotting inside the tree would be cut down in a school movie as a prop. Two hoboes at the junkyard turns on the TVs to see if they still work. The sets light up showing a hazy image of Lum.
The gang begins to shoot their movie. Their film is about a young man, played by Ataru, who takes refuge in a village from a band of walking tree trunks. Quietly listening the man over hears that the Tarouzakura is suffering from an illness. That the tree could be distroyed is by using a salted axe. Ataru cuts down the tree agreeing with the villigers for a reward in exchage. The spot that Ataru swung his axe the tree foams green liquid. Burning the trunk of the tree to a skeletal husk, but the shot wasn't recorded because of the blackout.
Why was Lum's image on the televisions at the junkyard?
